7 Fun Romantic Activities to Do in Lagos

Intro

Lagos has more going for it romantically than the traffic gets credit for — water on nearly every side, a genuine art scene, and a nightlife calendar that runs most days of the week. Here are seven ways to spend real time together in the city, beyond the usual dinner-and-a-movie.

1. Take a sunset boat cruise

Lagos is built around water — the lagoon and Five Cowries Creek both offer boat cruises that time the ride for sunset, when the city's skyline actually looks its best from a distance. Several operators run set departures from Landmark or Ilashe; book ahead on weekends.

2. Do the canopy walk at Lekki Conservation Centre

Africa's longest canopy walkway, suspended above the treetops, is a genuinely good couple's outing — equal parts nature and a small dose of nerves on the swaying bridge, which tends to end in a lot of hand-holding either way.

3. Spend an afternoon at Nike Art Gallery

One of the largest art galleries in West Africa, spread across several floors on the Lekki-Epe Expressway. It's free to browse, self-paced, and gives you plenty to actually talk about afterwards over lunch nearby.

4. Book a Victoria Island rooftop dinner

VI has no shortage of rooftop restaurants with proper skyline views — worth booking a table for just after sunset so you get the last of the daylight and the city lights coming on at the same time.

5. Catch a live music night

Lagos's live music scene runs from Afrobeats to jazz to open-mic nights, depending on which club or lounge you pick. Check listings for the week you're going rather than committing to one venue — the better nights move around.

6. Have a couples spa day

A proper spa afternoon — side-by-side massages, a shared steam room, no schedule to keep to — is an easy way to spend a full day together without needing to plan much beyond the booking itself.

7. Spend a day at the beach

Tarkwa Bay (boat access only, which keeps it quieter) or Elegushi for something more social — either way, a full beach day with real time to talk, away from the noise of the mainland, is one of the simplest romantic resets Lagos has to offer.
